The REALTOR® Association of Sarasota and Manatee (RASM) extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Patricia Dillon Short, who passed away peacefully on October 14, 2026, at the age of 85.
A respected real estate professional and longtime member of the REALTOR® community, Patricia enjoyed a distinguished 40-year career in real estate. After moving to Sarasota in 1979, she began her career with Strathmore Realty and later joined Michael Saunders & Company.
Throughout her career, Patricia demonstrated a strong commitment to professional development, leadership, and service. She held several professional designations, including GRI, CIPS, CRS, and LTG.
Her involvement extended to leadership positions within local, state, and national real estate organizations. She served as president of the local chapters of the Council of Residential Specialists (CRS) and Women's Council of REALTORS® (WCR), and represented the southeastern United States, including Puerto Rico, through her CRS involvement.
A lifelong learner, Patricia believed strongly in the importance of continuing education. She once shared, "You can never have enough knowledge, and real estate changes so much, you have to stay current."
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Patricia was devoted to her family, friends, and community. She and her husband, William H. Short III, were married for more than 65 years, building a life grounded in love, loyalty, and family.
Patricia leaves behind a legacy of professional integrity, service, generosity, and dedication to those around her.
RASM joins the REALTOR® community in remembering Patricia and extends its deepest sympathies to her loved ones.
