Leadership skills are the cornerstone of a successful career in any industry. The RASM Leadership Academy is a rigorous program designed to develop emerging REALTOR® leaders who want to get involved, make a difference, grow their business, and expand their leadership skills. Our Leadership Academy offers REALTOR® members the opportunity to learn new skills and prepare for future leadership roles on committees, the RASM Board of Directors, as well as leadership positions with Florida REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS®.

About the Application

The Leadership Academy applications open in January of each year with an anticipated deadline at the end of March. Applicants will be asked to interview prior to the final selection of annual participants.

Candidate Criteria

  • Must be a member in good standing with RASM.
  • Must hold an active real estate license.
  • Letter of recommendation required.
  • Enthusiasm and desire to serve in a leadership role.
  • Acceptance into the Institute is based upon interview and application.
  • Committed and available to participate in all sessions.

Welcome Orientation Luncheon – April 7 | 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

This first session will provide Leadership Candidates with the opportunity meet and get to know each other. During lunch Candidates will be welcomed by 2025 President, Debi Reynolds and CEO, Jeff Arakelian. Professional headshots and a group photo will be taken, and candidates will be paired with their mentors. The agenda includes an engaging session covering parliamentary procedures, strategies for running effective meetings, and defining the key traits of a successful leader. These topics are designed to lay a solid foundation for success from the very beginning. At the end of the day, candidates will have a clear understanding of the program and its expectations.

Team Building – April 8 | 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Formerly known as “low ropes,” this Portable Challenge Course is designed to foster skills such as leadership, trust, communication and teamwork. The candidates will experience a set of physical and mental challenges and will work together to problem solve, resolve conflict and overcome obstacles.

RASM FIRE Conference & Expo – April 25 | 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The RASM Conference & Expo is a one-day event open only to REALTORS® and packed with next-level programming on the 2025 theme of Foundations and Innovations in Real Estate. Topics include Luxury, Insurance, Condo law, Global Cultural Awareness, Legislation, Commercial Development, Property Management, Negotiations, Marketing and AI. Additional Fee is required to attend.

Economic Panel & Advocacy – May 28 | 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Candidates will attend a Board of Directors meeting to see planning and boardroom protocol in action and how the strategic plan and meeting agendas guide our leaders. RASM’s Government Affairs Director will discuss the role of REALTORS® in influencing policy matters and the laws regarding real estate and private property rights. A unique opportunity for networking and discussion among industry leaders and members of the business community. Lunch included.

Empowerment Workshop – June 16 | 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Dynamic workshop with Ron Frost, where you’ll explore the power of empowerment, learn strategies to set and achieve your goals, and discover how to make a meaningful impact. The session concludes with an uplifting presentation on developing a winning attitude, equipping you with the mindset to thrive in any situation.

Communication Workshop & Art of Conversation – July 7 | 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

This interactive communication workshop begins with a 3 CE credit course designed to enhance interpersonal relationships through research-based techniques tailored for Realtors® at all career stages. Following this, a hands-on session will equip you with practical skills for delivering impactful messages, creating content-driven presentations, engaging diverse audiences, and building confidence in all your interactions—from casual conversations to formal presentations. Lunch Included.

FREC Visit, Orlando – July 22 | 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.

This trip aims to inform REALTORS® about the procedure given the numerous violations of Chapter 475 that they are unaware of. This tour provides information on FREC processes in case you ever need to appear before this committee as a result of a complaint made against you by a member of the public or another licensee that is found to have merit.

Pathway to Leadership & Past Presidents Panel – August 4 | 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Learn about to roles of National, State and Local Associations and gain valuable insights on how to strategically navigate your path to success, followed by a unique opportunity for networking and discussion among past presidents of the Association. Information and insights from leaders on their leadership journey.

Florida REALTORS® Convention & Expo – August 27 & 28 | 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Known as the premier event for serious REALTORS®, every August the FR Convention & Expo offers opportunities to boost business and the bottom line. Learn success strategies from top industry leaders, the latest trends in high-tech devices and a chance to network with other real estate professionals. This event requires participants to register on their own and pay applicable fees.

Alumni Event, Final Presentation, Graduation, Annual Meeting – September 18 | 1 – 7 p.m.

2025 Leadership Academy participants present their final projects, culminating in a celebratory graduation ceremony. Following the ceremony is an opportunity to build and strengthen your career relationships and network and socialize with past Leadership Academy participants. Share your experiences, exchange career tips, and build your professional network.
