New Member Requirements
New to RASM?
New Member Training to Help You Reach Further
Welcome to the REALTOR® Association of Sarasota and Manatee (RASM)! As your local Association, we’re here to provide the resources you need to succeed in this business.
As a new member, you have three main requirements that you need to complete in order to maintain good standing as a member of the Association.
1. RASM's New Member Orientation
2. NAR's Code of Ethics Training for New Members (for new licensees)
3. Stellar MLS Classes Required for New Subscribers (for new licensees)
RASM Requirements (within 90 days)
New Member Orientation
The New Member Orientation program is a requirement for Association membership and must be completed within 3 months of submitting the membership application to the REALTOR® Association of Sarasota and Manatee. New Member Orientation classes are offered monthly and must be completed in-person to fulfill your membership requirements.
CODE OF ETHICS TRAINING
All new RASM members must complete a qualified New Member Code of Ethics course within the first 3 months of joining the Association. A new member who has completed the New Member Code of Ethics Orientation shall not be required to complete additional ethics training until the next three-year cycle.
FAIR HOUSING TRAINING
Starting in 2025, new-member applicants must now complete two hours of fair housing training. The new requirement was approved by the NAR Board of Directors at its May 11 meeting. The three-year cycle coincides with NAR’s existing Code of Ethics training requirement and begins in 2025.
Stellar MLS Requirements (within 60 days)
Within 60 days of joining, all new Stellar MLS customers must complete Starting Out Stellar, MLS Basic, MLS Compliance required courses. These classes are available online or in-person at RASM or any Association affiliated with Stellar MLS. Elective classes like Adding & Modifying Listings or iMapp are available to help you become more proficient at using Matrix and MLS.
Starting Out Stellar (self-paced online only)
This course provides a comprehensive overview of navigating the Stellar MLS website and Stellar Central.
MLS Basic
This required course teaches every new Stellar MLS subscriber the basics of Matrix. Topics include navigating the system, setting up a property search, direct and auto emails, managing contacts, and more.
MLS Compliance 101
This required class for new subscribers reviews the MLS comprehensive Rules & Regulations to ensure that all users have access to the best data possible.
Post-Licensing Reminder
Post-licensing is required in your first year of practice. Sales Associates are required to complete 45 hours of post-license education and Brokers are required to complete 60 hours of post-license education.
