About the Application
The Leadership Academy applications open in January of each year with an anticipated deadline at the end of March. Applicants will be asked to interview prior to the final selection of annual participants.
Candidate Criteria
- Must be a member in good standing with RASM.
- Must hold an active real estate license.
- Letter of recommendation required.
- Enthusiasm and desire to serve in a leadership role.
- Acceptance into the Institute is based upon interview and application.
- Committed and available to participate in all sessions.

Welcome Orientation Luncheon – April 1 | 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
This first session will provide Leadership Candidates with the opportunity meet and get to know each other. During lunch Candidates will be welcomed by 2026 President, David Crawford and CEO, Jeff Arakelian. Professional headshots and a group photo will be taken, and candidates will be paired with their mentors. The agenda includes an engaging session covering parliamentary procedures, strategies for running effective meetings, and defining the key traits of a successful leader. These topics are designed to lay a solid foundation for success from the very beginning. At the end of the day, candidates will have a clear understanding of the program and its expectations.
Team Building – April 2 | 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Formerly known as “low ropes,” this Portable Challenge Course is designed to foster skills such as leadership, trust, communication and teamwork. The candidates will experience a set of physical and mental challenges and will work together to problem solve, resolve conflict and overcome obstacles.
RASM FIRE Conference & Expo – April 16 | 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The RASM Conference & Expo is a one-day event open exclusively to REALTORS®, featuring high-impact education and interactive sessions designed to ignite growth at every stage of your business. Programming covers body language and communication, luxury service, marketing strategy, legal updates, leadership, global business, insurance insights, wealth-building, and actionable industry outlooks. An additional fee is required to attend.
Communication Workshop & Art of Conversation – May 11 | 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
This interactive communication workshop begins with a 3 CE credit course designed to enhance interpersonal relationships through research-based techniques tailored for REALTORS® at all career stages. Following this, a hands-on session will equip you with practical skills for delivering impactful messages, creating content-driven presentations, engaging diverse audiences, and building confidence in all your interactions—from casual conversations to formal presentations. Lunch Included.
Pathway to Leadership, BOD, and Advocacy – May 27 | 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Learn how National, State, and Local Associations work together and gain insight into navigating your path within organized real estate. Candidates will attend a Board of Directors meeting to observe planning, boardroom protocol, and how strategic plans and agendas guide association leadership. The program also includes networking and discussion with former Association leaders, who will share perspectives from their leadership journey. RASM’s Government Affairs Director will outline the REALTOR® role in advocacy and laws impacting real estate and private property rights.
Empowerment Workshop / Toastmaster – June 4 | 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Dynamic workshop with Tim Weisheyer, where you’ll explore the power of empowerment, learn strategies to set and achieve your goals, and discover how to make a meaningful impact. The session concludes with an uplifting presentation on developing a winning attitude, equipping you with the mindset to thrive in any situation.
Economic Panel & Past Presidents Panel – June 29 | 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
This session provides a unique opportunity for networking and discussion among industry leaders, members of the business community, and past presidents of our association. Information and insights from experts focus on diverse topics including change in the business and future trends. Lunch included.
FREC Viewing Party – July 22 | 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
This aims to inform REALTORS® about the procedure given the numerous violations of Chapter 475 that they are unaware of. This tour provides information on FREC processes in case you ever need to appear before this committee as a result of a complaint made against you by a member of the public or another licensee that is found to have merit.
Florida REALTORS® Convention & Expo – August 19 – 20 | 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Known as the premier event for serious REALTORS®, every August the FR Convention & Expo offers opportunities to boost business and the bottom line. Learn success strategies from top industry leaders, the latest trends in high-tech devices and a chance to network with other real estate professionals. This event requires participants to register on their own and pay applicable fees.
Alumni Event, Final Presentation, Graduation – September 17 | 2 – 7 p.m.
Leadership Academy participants present their final projects, culminating in a celebratory graduation ceremony. Following the ceremony is an opportunity to build and strengthen your career relationships and network and socialize with past Leadership Academy participants. Share your experiences, exchange career tips, and build your professional network.
